How are we feeling, transfers? A change of classrooms, campuses or even states can be daunting, but we hope your transition to Temple has been smooth so far. Now that we’re halfway through the fall semester, check out these helpful reminders from transfer students on how to navigate your experience as a Temple transfer student.

Keep your schedule in mind

Take a look at your schedule and experiment with ways you can keep it as organized as possible. Of course, a few things will need to be moved around, but grabbing that coffee at your favorite time always helps to bring some calm to the storm.

Leaning on wise Owls

Don’t be afraid to reach out to classmates, professors and advisors. More than likely, they’ve been through a similar situation and have a solution to any problems you might encounter. Creating connections is one of the most important aspects of the college experience, and it all starts with speaking up! Pro tip: Make it a habit to attend your professors’ office hours.

Get involved

If you haven’t already, look into the hundreds of clubs and student orgs around campus on Owl Connect. Have a passion for fashion? Or maybe you’d like to cultivate your green thumb. You can even join Temple’s diehard student fan section at home games. There’s something for everyone, so at least one club is more than likely a fit for you. They’re always looking for new members, no matter your year.

Familiarize yourself with Temple

Have you explored all the famous food spots on campus such as “The Wall”? Here, you’ll find Richie’s Deli, Eddie’s Pizza, Thai’s Vietnamese Food and more. And don’t forget about the many food trucks like 4 Roosters or The Crepe Truck.

The Howard Gittis Student Center and Charles Library are other popular locations along with Beury Beach next to the Bell Tower. Here, you can sunbathe in the grass when it’s warm (at this point, you may have to wait until spring, though). And, of course, continue getting to know the buildings and classrooms of your specific school or college.

Unlock the key to success

Temple’s Student Success Center is your one-stop shop for learning support. Here, you’ll find academic coaching such as time management, organization and study skills as well as our Language Tutoring and Conversation Partners Program, STEM Learning Lab, the Writing Center, and Peer-assisted Study Sessions program. As a transfer student, you too can take advantage of the opportunities the center offers.
