Temple University’s status as Philadelphia’s public research university has again brought distinction and recognition to the university.
In the latest edition of the Best Colleges U.S. News and World Report ranking, Temple ranks No. 50 in the category of Top Public Schools. This marks the fourth straight year that Temple has ranked among the top 50 public institutions.
Additionally, Temple rose ten spots in the Best Value category, landing at No. 71 after being ranked No. 81 in the same category last year.
“It is always gratifying to be recognized by U.S. News and World Report, and I am pleased to again see Temple ranked as one of the top 50 public institutions, as this demonstrates the significance of the important work carried out by our faculty and staff members every day,” Temple President John Fry said. “What is most important to us here at Temple is keeping students at the center of all we do. That is precisely why student success has been identified as the keystone priority of our strategic plan, Forward with Purpose, and I am eager to continue our important work as we implement the plan this academic year.”
Temple is also ranked No. 109 in the national universities category. The latest round of rankings was released Tuesday, Sept. 22.
“I am proud to see Temple’s continued presence within the U.S. News and World Report ranking as it reflects the many ways that our faculty and staff members are helping advance this institution in service to students,” said Temple Senior Vice President and Provost Elizabeth Wentz. “It is our dedication to students and their success that guides our efforts at Temple, and we are deeply committed to keeping student success top of mind as we pursue new initiatives in support of the strategic plan.”
U.S. News has published annual “Best Colleges” rankings since 1983. Within this year’s rankings, Temple also ranked No. 72 in the Best Colleges for Veterans - National Universities category.
Several other academic programs were also highlighted in the recently released rankings. The Fox School of Business’ undergraduate programs of Insurance (No. 6), International Business (No. 9) and Management Information Systems (No. 14) all received strong rankings. Additionally, the College of Liberal Arts’ Psychology program was ranked No. 63 in the best undergraduate psychology category. The College of Public Health’s undergraduate nursing program ranked No. 135.
