Temple received nine 2025 EPPY Awards from Editor and Publisher Magazine, which recognizes outstanding achievement in digital journalism and marks the highest total of any university in the higher education categories.
From an investigative podcast to community reporting, media organizations based at Temple University were honored alongside major news outlets with nine 2025 EPPY Awards—the annual awards sponsored by Editor and Publisher Magazine that recognize outstanding achievement in digital journalism and innovation. Temple received the most of any university in the higher education categories with six awards.
“On behalf of Temple University, I am so proud of our students and faculty who were honored, particularly as Temple received more awards than any other university this year in the College and University Category,” said David Boardman, interim provost of Temple University and dean of the Klein College of Media and Communication. “As we like to say at Klein College, we ‘learn it by living it,’ and these honors reaffirm the impact our students and faculty are making beyond the classroom.”
The remaining three awards were in professional categories for the podcast by Temple University’s Logan Center for Urban Investigative Reporting produced with The Philadelphia Inquirer examining the MOVE bombing.
“Journalism continues to evolve, and our students are at the forefront of this rapidly changing digital landscape,” said Deborah A. Cai, acting dean of Klein. “As the premier trade publication of the journalism industry, it is an honor to see our Temple students so widely recognized by Editor and Published across multiple EPPY Award categories for their outstanding work.”

Now in its 27th year, the EPPY Awards is an annual awards program sponsored by Editor and Publisher Magazine that recognizes outstanding achievement in digital journalism and innovation across more than 45 categories. Each year, more than 400 entries from over 200 media organizations are submitted, celebrating excellence in website design, multimedia storytelling, community service projects and more.
Judged by a panel of over 20 media experts, industry professionals and academic leaders, awards are given in numerous categories for professional, collegiate and nonprofit media organizations worldwide, with entries often divided into divisions based on audience size. Entries are evaluated on core criteria such as design, usability, depth of content and timeliness—with emphasis on how each submission leverages today’s platforms, technology and audience engagement.
