The Temple University Jazz Band (TUJB) has placed second at the 2022 Jack Rudin Jazz Championship, hosted by Jazz at Lincoln Center. The band, comprised of students from the Boyer College of Music and Dance, is directed by award-winning trumpeter and Director of Jazz Studies Terell Stafford.
In addition to TUJB s collective accolade, the jazz band also received recognition for Outstanding Rhythm Section, Outstanding Trombone Section and Outstanding Trumpet Section. Several individual players also received awards, including Anthony Aldissi 24 for Outstanding Piano, Dylan Band 22 for Outstanding Tenor Saxophone, Maria Marmarou 22 for Outstanding Drums, John Meko 22 for Outstanding Trumpet and Banks Sapnar 23 for Outstanding Trumpet.
