Milk and business: 5 cool ventures that have worked with Blackstone LaunchPad

Nutshell has some serious #goals. Chief among them is becoming super famous and ultra rich and ditching this email gig for a career writing best-selling books (Milk and Squirrels, anyone?). We re totes kidding; we have too much fun writing to you. But if we *were* serious, we d know just the place to make our dreams come true: Blackstone LaunchPad. The free, on-campus resource has worked with the entrepreneurial Owls who created the parody book Milk and Vine; a cosmetics company that caters to all skin types; and so many other awesome ventures. It can help you, too.
A vine that is growing cartons of milk, lipsticks and cellphones emerging from a woman s head.
  • Pound Cake
This super incredible cosmetics company recently raised more than $20,000 on Indiegogo, a crowdfunding website. The company, founded by alumna Camille Bell and Klein student Jonathan Valasquez, is on a mission to create makeup for all skin tones.

  • Milk and Vine
Freshmen Adam Gasiewski and Emily Beck self-published this book compilation of popular Vine quotes, parodying the popular Milk and Honey poetry book. In doing so, they tapped into a passionate community that still loves the defunct social media platform, selling more than 100,000 copies in a month s time.

  • Vitris
Started by Fox student Jack Perrotta, this company connects customers whose phones or tablets need repairs with area shops and technicians.

  • ME.mory
This alumnus-initiated app is designed to help people remember. Thomas Dixon, EDU 14, conceived the idea for the app after he was struck by a car in 2010 and left with a memory disability.

  • Cocktail Culture Co.
Jungeun Park, FOX 16, launched this business that offers cocktail-making workshops for parties and team-building events.
