This Friday, Temple s men s basketball returns to Broad Street. The Owls host Philadelphia Big 5 rival La Salle in the Liacouras Center. The game tips off at 7 p.m.
As in the 2015 2016 season, the Owls were picked in the preseason to finish sixth in the American Athletic Conference. Last season, the team beat expectations with a 21 12 record in which they won the American Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship, and made an NCAA Tournament appearance for the seventh time in Head Coach Fran Dunphy's 10 seasons.
This game also kicks off the 20th season of the Liacouras Center, the home of Temple basketball since 1997. An ongoing series of promotions has been announced to recognize the milestone. On Friday, the first 4,000 fans to arrive at the game against La Salle will receive a free Temple basketball schedule magnet. Get your tickets.
After beginning the season with a win over the University of the District of Columbia in an exhibition game on Nov. 5, the Temple women s basketball officially kicks off their season on Friday with a road game against Saint Joseph s. The team will celebrate its home opener in McGonigle Hall on Monday, Nov. 14, when the Owls host La Salle.
The women s basketball team was picked second in the American Athletic Conference preseason poll, behind perennial powerhouse UConn. Last season, the Owls posted an overall record of 23 12 and reached the WNIT quarterfinals.
