Something for everyone at Homecoming 2014

Temple s Homecoming 2014 has arrived and offers a wide variety of options, both new and old, for all to enjoy.

The Temple community is invited to the Cherry On Pep Rally Friday, Oct. 10, on Liacouras Walk to cheer on the football team as players head off campus; the Boyer College Mosaic Concert on Friday, Oct. 10, at the Temple Performing Arts Center; the Art Market at Tyler on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10 and 11, starting at noon; and the Tailgate Row party on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Lincoln Financial Field, hosted by the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Temple University Alumni Association. Throughout the day on Saturday, Oct. 11, various alumni groups will hold reunions, including the Diamond Marching Band, the Class of 2014 (a half-year reunion) and Chemistry.

Also included in this year s festivities is the building dedication for Temple s brand new Science Education and Research Center.

Online registration for Homecoming is now closed, but all alumni and friends are encouraged to walk in to events. If applicable, payment by cash, check or credit card will be accepted at the door. Alumni looking to attend reunions hosted by alumni groups can register until 5:00 p.m. today, Oct. 9, by contacting the Office of Alumni Relations at 215-204-7521.

Student may each receive one free ticket to the game with a student ID; tickets can be picked up at the Liacouras Center Box Office up to two days before the game or at Lincoln Financial Field the day of the game. Visit owlstix.com and click Student for more information.

At the 3rd Annual Art Market at Tyler, the public can browse and purchase works including glass, paintings, ceramics and photography made by fine artists and craftspeople, some of whom are alumni and students of the Tyler School of Art. The event will be held from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, and from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11. A portion of the proceeds will benefit student scholarships at Tyler School of Art.The Boyer College of Music and Dance will present Mosaic Concert (il Mosaico) on Friday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the Temple Performing Arts Center. The collage of music and dance will feature performances by all of Boyer s ensembles as well as solo performances by students. The second half of the program, il Mosaico, pays tribute to Ciao Philadelphia a monthlong celebration of Italian arts, culture and community and will feature works by Italian composers such as Rossini, Puccini, Scarlatti and Verdi. The event is free to the public and does not require tickets.
