Associate Professor of Physics Maria Iavarone studies the electronic properties of materials using a scanning tunneling microscope that allows her to see individual atoms. Temple s new Science Education and Research Center will be home to two of these devices.

"We are especially interested in making new functionalities that are important in nanoelectronics and in energy applications," Iavarone said.
