Abstract: Speciation occurs as reproductive isolation accumulates among diverging lineages. Due to advances in sequencing technology, we have the ability to conduct genomic studies in a wide range of species and identify genes that contribute to reproductive isolation. Once these genes are identified, we can explore the repeatability of genetic architecture of reproductive traits among species. We can also investigate how epigenetic mechanisms (such as DNA methylation) may be associated with changes in reproductive traits. This talk will present research on Ostrinia moths and Callophyrs butterflies, exploring the genomic and epigenomic changes associated with timing, reproduction, and warming environments.

OPEN TO: Faculty and Staff, Graduate Students, Undergraduate Students
