What can art offer us when we are processing experiences of illness, loss, care, and healing?
Join us at the Mütter Museum for a special visit to Creative Processing, an exhibition that explores the history of art therapy and other creative approaches to care. Together, we’ll consider the ways artists, patients, caregivers, and practitioners have used creative expression to make meaning, connect with others, and process difficult experiences.
Emily Eisler, Behavioral Health Program Specialist at the Mütter Museum, will lead us through the exhibition and share insights into the stories and practices represented in the show. Following the tour, we’ll move into one of the Museum’s spaces for a reflective arts practice and facilitated conversation—an opportunity to respond creatively to what we have seen and consider connections to art therapy, care, and our own experiences.
Michaela Hlubik and Dr. Kathryn Snyder from the Art Therapy Program will meet you at the Museum and help guide the experience.
Come prepared to look closely, think together, make something, and explore the role of creativity in care.
Please note: This is a free, special-program experience. General admission to the Mütter Museum is not included in the field trip.
