AED Presents: "The Broad Horizon View: An Empathetic Approach to our Connective Tissue"

Tyler School of Art and Architecture
landscape architecture project by David Rubin
Landscape is a political act. Our use of horticulture and design directly reflects us as individuals, communities, regions, and countries. As such, it reflects society and provides a means to express our best aspects. Land Collective's empathy-driven design studio considers writing a landscape as a means of sharing the stories inherent in the land, allowing it to be read by others. David will speak to the firm's philosophy, consider the history of landscape design as a means of communicating philosophy, and reflect upon several of the studio's interventions that support the common good.

David A. Rubin, PLA, FASLA, FAAR is the founding principal of DAVID RUBIN Land Collective, a landscape architecture, urban design, and planning studio committed to social purpose. The hallmark of the firm is “empathy-driven design” – David’s visionary contribution to the field – which fuses excellence in the design of public spaces with attention to issues of equity and social justice.
