Please join us as we celebrate the life of Rachel Blau DuPlessis, experimental poet, literary scholar, founding faculty of Temple’s MFA in Creative Writing, and professor of English and creative writing Emerita.

Rachel was an innovative poet and literary critic, a mentor, and an artist. She was the author of over 30 books of poetry, theory, and literary criticism. The English department’s DuPlessis Lecture in Poetry and Poetics is named in her honor.

We invite former students, faculty, colleagues, friends and members of the poetry community in Philadelphia (and beyond, the event will be available via Zoom) to join us to celebrate Rachel’s extraordinary life, work, writing, influence, and generous friendship.
