The Philosophy Department welcomes Colloquium speaker Robert Audi.

Abstract: Suppose you have two reasons to keep a promise: you gave your word, and breaking it could damage your reputation. Can you act for the moral reason simply by willing to? And if both reasons move you, how much moral worth does your action have? Robert Audi explores these questions through Kant and W. D. Ross, offering a reading of Kant that avoids Ross’s objections and outlining a broader account of moral creditworthiness.
