Join Dr. Srimati Mukherjee as she moderates a discussion of Jhumpa Lahiri’s The Lowland: A Novel (2013).

The novel is a deeply moving story about two brothers that spans fifty years, moving between the political turmoil of Calcutta, India, and the quiet shores of Rhode Island, America. The book was highly praised by critics and became a finalist for both the Man Booker Prize and the National Book Award.

In the wake of COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter, the Writers of Color Series, co-founded by Dr. Mukherjee, centers the voices of writers of color—especially women—creating space for critical conversation and reflection.
