Please join us for a talk by Jiayu Yang (PhD candidate in the Documentary Arts and Visual Research Program, Boyer College of Music and Dance) on Incommensurate Metabolism: Wax Worms, Eco-Material Film Processing, and the Plastic Past and Future of Analog Film Base.
In their talk, "Incommensurate Metabolism: Wax Worms, Eco-Material Film Processing, and the Plastic Past and Future of Analog Film Base," Yang will explore how science and art approach organisms through visualization, extraction, and transposition. This interdisciplinary project traces multiple emergences of the larvae of a metamorphosing insect, wax worms (Galleria mellonella), across socio-material worlds and engages, theoretically and practically, with their multiple unstable ontologies that lie beyond scientific frameworks.
