Dr. Robert J. Ryan (Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering) will present Water for Saacha: Temple Engineering in Peru, which considers water issues faced by the Saacha community outside Otuzco in the Andes Mountains of northern Peru. Saacha is a subsistence farming community of about 15 homes and 25 people. They have free legal access to water for agricultural purposes but no legal access to drinking water. The Temple University Chapter of Engineers Without Borders worked with the community members and a local NGO (The Rural Pastoral Formation Center Maria, Madre de Buen Consejo) from 2016 to 2020 to support the community’s efforts to bring clean drinking water into the community.

This event is co-sponsored by Temple University Libraries.
