As the United States commemorates 250 years since its founding, the Juneteenth Freedom Café invites members of the campus community to engage in thoughtful dialogue inspired by the PBS documentary Juneteenth: Faith & Freedom.

Juneteenth commemorates the day when enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. While the holiday celebrates emancipation, it also invites us to consider the broader and ongoing pursuit of liberation and justice.

Through guided conversation and community reflection, participants will explore the intersections of liberation, faith, and justice within the American story. Together, we will examine how faith traditions and communities have contributed to movements for freedom and social change, reflect on the promises and complexities of our nation's history, and consider how we can continue advancing equity, belonging, and collective well-being.

Join us as we honor the legacy of Juneteenth and engage in meaningful conversations about the continuing pursuit of a more just and inclusive society.
