Join the Temple University School of Pharmacy for Research Recognition Day, our signature annual event in celebration of research done by students, clinicians, and researchers.

Attendees can explore and evaluate research in clinical pharmacy, translational medicine, drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics, proteomics, formulation development, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, drug delivery, and more. Hear from Keynote Speaker Dr. Robert Ruffolo, one of the most celebrated scientists of his generation, and a panel of industry experts on career opportunities in research.

All are welcome. Register now.

The Temple University School of Pharmacy gratefully acknowledges Gregory Papa '75, David Kwasny '76, Jan Kitzen '72, and all of the sponsors of this year's Research Recognition Day. This event would not be possible without your generous support.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Robert R. Ruffolo, Jr., Ph.D., D.Sc. (h.c.), D.Eng. (h.c.), F.C.P.P., F.ASPET Chairman, Aragen Biosciences; Managing Director, Ruffolo Consulting, LLC

Dr. Ruffolo is one of the most prolific and decorated drug discovery scientists of his generation. Over a career spanning more than four decades, the R&D organizations he led at Pfizer, GSK, and Eli Lilly discovered and developed 38 medicines brought to market.

His most celebrated contribution is the discovery and development of carvedilol (Coreg®), a first-in-class alpha/beta-adrenergic blocker that fundamentally changed the treatment of congestive heart failure. Now listed by the WHO as an Essential Medicine and among the most widely prescribed drugs in the world, carvedilol has been credited with saving tens of millions of lives. He also contributed to the development of ropinirole (Requip®) for Parkinson's disease, dobutamine (Dobutrex®) for acute heart failure, and eprosartan (Teveten®) for hypertension.

Dr. Ruffolo's research expertise spans cardiovascular pharmacology, adrenergic receptor pharmacology, drug-receptor theory, and structure-activity relationships of adrenergic drugs. He holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from The Ohio State University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the NIH in the laboratory of Nobel Laureate Dr. Marshall Nirenberg.

He has authored more than 500 peer-reviewed publications and 300 abstracts, edited 15 books, and served as Editor-in-Chief of four international pharmacology journals. Clarivate Analytics has ranked him among the top 100 most cited pharmacologists in the world for over two decades, and ASPET has established an annual Career Achievement Award in his name.
