About Bernie Prazenica
Bernie Prazenica, KLN ’79, is the former president and general manager of 6abc WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, the ABC-owned station serving the nation’s fourth-largest television market.
During his tenure, he oversaw the station’s broadcast and digital operations, including 6abc.com, its mobile platforms and multiple digital channels, leading one of the country’s most respected television stations and top-rated local news organizations.
Prazenica began his career in television as an account executive in Pittsburgh and Richmond before joining WPVI in 1982. Over more than four decades with ABC and Disney’s television stations, he held roles including director of sales at WPVI and president and general manager of WTVD-TV in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, before returning to Philadelphia in 2007 to lead 6abc.
A cum laude graduate of Klein College, Prazenica has remained deeply involved in civic and industry organizations and was honored with the Lew Klein Alumni in the Media Award and induction into Temple University’s Gallery of Success.
