Incoming Social Work students are charged with choosing their academic focus. Should I select micro or macro? Choosing the macro path does not keep us from engaging directly with clients. This talk will focus on an area of social work practice where macro practitioners can directly impact the lives of individuals and families through organizational leadership. We will explore how macro clinicians are uniquely suited to shape human service organizations while creating safe and supportive spaces for all to thrive. This session will be facilitated by Professor Susan Brotherton. Her teaching, research, and service focus on how social workers can work in macro roles and bring a trauma-informed lens and culture to shaping organizations and leadership within agencies.
