Picture of Thalia Field's poetry book Personhood

Thalia Field has published several books using literary terms to rip open the entangled problems of animal/human relations — Personhood, Experimental Animals, BirdLovers, Backyard. Earlier books experiment with story-telling and our sense of self (collective and otherwise) and how these bind or unwind us: Ululu (Clown Shrapnel)Incarnate: Story Material, Point and Line. Thalia has collaborated with French writer Abigail Lang on Leave to Remain (Legends of Janus), and A Prank of Georges. Recently, the director and sound designer Ben Williams has produced book-length audio performances of Thalia's books, with original music and actors such as Shannon Tyo, T Ryder Smith, April Mathis, and Scott Shepherd. All audio books are available for free at www.category-other.com.

The Poets & Writers Series is sponsored by the Temple University MFA Program in Creative Writing, with the assistance of the Department of English. Each year a number of poets and fiction writers are invited to read from and discuss their work to members of both the Temple community and the local Philadelphia arts scene. All events are free and open to the public.
