Please join us for the College of Education and Human Development annual Acres of Diamonds Public Talk and Roundtable Discussions on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. This year’s public talk and symposium will focus on building and sustaining equitable partnerships among families, schools and universities.

Dr. Ann Ishimaru of the University of Washington will serve as the guest speaker. This interactive event will bring together community partners and organizations, school district administrators and teachers, as well as CEHD alumni, faculty and current students to connect, reflect and further develop partnership work.

In her talk, “From Extraction to Solidarity: Bending the River toward Just Community Collaborations,” Dr. Ishimaru will share a framework for advancing equitable school–university–community collaborations, along with examples from her research and practice. Following the presentation, participants will join roundtable discussions to explore how the ideas shared can inform their own teaching, service and research.

We hope all participants will leave with new ideas and insights to strengthen their partnership efforts, as well as new connections with people and organizations in Philadelphia and beyond. Light refreshments will be served from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m., and the program will begin at 6:00 p.m.
