Vladimir Angelov, “WHAT WE DANCE ABOUT TODAY: NEW CONTENT AND CREATIVE APPROACHES IN 21ST-CENTURY CHOREOGRAPHY
This presentation will provide information on the latest subjects of interest to choreographers worldwide, as well as new developments in dance dramaturgy and creative approaches.
A quick review of choreographic terminology will be displayed with PowerPoint diagrams. Then the presentation will discuss new content & topics in contemporary choreography:
- Reimagining traditional narratives in contemporary context.
- Instant composing: hyper-experimentalism and algorithmic choreographic improvisation.
- Art as activism: the politics and the dialogical dramaturgy of social justice and the environment.
- The surge of new content models, plots, and imagery of utopia, dystopia, and futurism.
- Dancing between cultures: trans-culturalism and migratory artistic identity.
- Trans-disciplinarity: the interaction of dance with other arts and sciences.
- Virtual moves: Artificial Intelligence, cyber creativity, and digital technology in choreography.

Vladimir Angelov is an accomplished choreographer, published author and Founder and Executive Director of the International Choreography Organization and Networking Services – Dance ICONS, Inc., the global association and network for choreographers.
