The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics Seminar Series presents: Dr. Pengyue Zhang: Revealing Precise Drug Responses from Real-World Data

Pengyue Zhang, PhD will present his research, “Revealing Precise Drug Responses from Real-World Data.” In this talk, Dr. Zhang will explain that drug responses cannot be fully identified in premarketing clinical trials due to limitations on heterogeneity of the study samples and lengths of follow-up. Real-world data (RWD) mining has the potential to identify precise drug responses in patient subpopulations that are underrepresented in clinical trials, as well as to reveal rare and/or long-term drug effects. First, the presentation will introduce novel statistical models for mining RWD. For instance, the trajectory-informed model (TIM) could detect novel adverse drug-drug interactions in patient subpopulations, and the dose-aware model (DAM) could reveal the optimal dose-response relationship (DRR) for a drug combination from an astronomical number of potential DRRs. Second, the presentation will show exemplified RWD analyses.

Dr. Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics and Health Data Science at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
