Join the Office of Sustainability for a free Friday afternoon excursion to the Fabric Workshop and Museum! Located just south of Temple's campus, this internationally acclaimed contemporary art museum invites artists to experiment with fabric through a variety of installations. Along with collections of art, this museum has an innovative workshop space, where attendees are able to practice new techniques and engage in different screenprinting activities.
At this excursion, attendees will be viewing two new exhibitions, Talismans for a Theater of Resilience & The Living Temple and participating in a hands-on screenprinting workshop! See below for the full workshop description:
How can we bring clothing from our past into our present? Learn how to draw inspiration from your own memories to create unique motifs that can be converted into screenprinting stencils. We’ll introduce you to monoprinting techniques that can be used to revitalize and transform your old clothing! Bring existing articles of clothing to repurpose! Participants are limited to 2 articles of clothing each. Please bring light colored clothing!
Spots are limited to the first 15 registrants, so be sure to RSVP. Arrive outside the Office of Sustainability, Howard Gittis Student Center Suite 101, no later than 1 PM. We will leave as a group and take SEPTA to the museum, arriving at 1:30 PM. We will be back on campus no later than 3:30 PM. SEPTA passes will be provided to all registrants.
