Charles Library
portrait of Bob Lott

In the beginning, there was an architect named Bob Lott. This is a bio-doc film about the man who decided to give up his successful career in architecture and create a successful existence in what was then known as the “new” world of video production.
The long-awaited documentary of Philadelphia’s Architect of Vision explores the remarkable life of a visionary who transitioned from the drawing board to the director’s chair, leaving an historical mark in both fields.
This film is the documented story of Bob Lott, a celebrated architect who ultimately made the decision to swap blueprints of churches to formulating the blueprint for producing films of the African American experiences.
His mission is to produce worldwide products and programming that are unique, high quality with high concept ideals, dependable with continuous new product development, created for contemporary and historical entertainment.
Starting with the representation of Black music videos on the first national television program, The Gavin & Lott Show that aired weekly nationwide.
With his long-term relationship with legendary Gamble & Huff’s Philadelphia International Records, you'll experience his production activities.
This film is a celebration of a man whose career of 44 years spans continents and decades. A man whose passion for storytelling took him across the globe resulting in two full-length “award winning” documentaries on Egypt and Ghana and so much more.
This is One Man’s story, a testament to the power of vision, creativity, and the pursuit of one’s passion.
