Join us for a presentation by Dr. Alan McPherson on his latest book, The Breach: Iran-Contra and the Assault on American Democracy. Completed while McPherson was a 2022-2023 CHAT Fellow, the book offers a riveting account of foreign policy decisions in the 1980s that led to trading arms illegally with IRAN, funding rebel groups in Central America, and efforts to evade political and legal consequences once the details of the scandal emerged. McPherson is the Director of the Center for the Study of Force and Diplomacy. Joseph Johnson, Ph.D. Candidate in History will serve as respondent.
