Presenter: Francesco Capone, PhD candidate, Dept. of Electronics Information and Bioengineering, Politecnico di Milano; Visiting Scholar, Temple University

Title: Exploring the Impacts of Emerging Renewable Technologies Through the Water–Energy–Food Nexus

Speaker bio: Francesco Capone is a PhD candidate in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, Italy. He obtained his Master’s degree in Environmental and Land Planning Engineering in 2023, with a research focus on the application of agrivoltaic systems, promoting them as an effective solution to address Water–Energy–Food (WEF) nexus challenges and support sustainable development. He is currently enrolled in the multidisciplinary PhD program: Science, Technology, and Policy for Sustainable Change at Politecnico di Milano, under the supervision of Prof. Maria Cristina Rulli. His doctoral research investigates the potential and limitations of carbon-free synthetic fuels (Hydrogen), adopting a WEF nexus perspective to assess their role as a strategic asset in the energy transition process.
