Dr. Wei Pan is a candidate for a faculty position in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics. He will join us for a lecture on Feb. 14 from 10-11 a.m. in Tuttleman 5B.

Dr. Pan is an Associate Professor of Methods and Analytics at the Duke University School of Nursing. He received his PhD in Measurement and Quantitative Methods from Michigan State University in 2001 and his MS in Statistics from Fuzhou University, China, in 1989.

Dr. Pan s research focuses on the methodological development of statistical methods applicable to social, behavioral, and health research. He has published numerous statistical and methodological referred journal articles on causal inference, resampling, power analysis, and psychometrics. His recent book entitled Propensity Score Analysis: Fundamentals and Developments tackles both methodological and practical issues in propensity score analysis, a statistical technique for reducing selection bias, so as to increase the validity of causal inference from non-randomized observational studies.
