Designed as a forum on policy setting for the Data Science initiative at Temple University, this University-wide symposium on Data Science and data analytics aims to develop the research agenda for data science initiatives by bringing together academic researchers, industry partners, and program directors from funding agencies to discuss priorities on how methodological advances in data science can inform various applications in practice.
The symposium seeks to strengthen both internal collaboration and external partnerships, improve existing data science infrastructure throughout the university, and identify specific research opportunities and directions that can inform industry practice. The overarching goal is to create a leading national institute of excellence in data science by:
- Defining how Temple can lead, in both research and applications in industry, government, and society
- Integrating capabilities that exist across the university in various schools/departments to inform practice
- Aligning current research to current trends and practical opportunities in industry, government, and society
- Disseminate important insights about the state of data science, new methodological advances, and novel applications
