To the Temple Community, This morning, around 1:25 a.m., the Temple University Police Department and Philadelphia Police Department responded to reports of an armed robbery that occurred off campus on the 1900 block of North 18th Street and quickly made an arrest. We are grateful for the efforts of the police officers who quickly responded to the scene and apprehended the suspect. Preliminary information indicates that a student was approached by an individual, who displayed a handgun and demanded money. A short time later, Philadelphia Police observed a male matching his description and made an arrest. Thankfully, the student was not physically injured. Students’ safety and well-being remain our highest priority. We remind members of our community to save the number of Temple Police to your contacts: 215-204-1234. Temple Police should be the first call for an immediate safety concern or emergency on campus. We also encourage you to download the TUSafe app and confirm your phone number is registered for TUalerts. More information on the university’s safety resources can be found at safety.temple.edu. Sincerely, Denise Wilhelm |
