To the Temple Community, 

This morning, just before 1:30 a.m., police officers from Temple University and Philadelphia Police departments responded to reports of an off-campus shooting on the 2000 block of North 18th Street. Upon arrival, they found a man who had been shot in the rear yard of a residence.  

The victim, who does not have an affiliation to the university, was quickly transported to Temple University Hospital by Philadelphia Police, where his condition is unknown at this time. 

The investigation is being led by the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD).

While this did not involve members of the Temple community, incidents like this can be unsettling. We encourage all students, faculty and staff to become familiar with the university’s available safety resources, including the Walking Escort Program, Flight shuttle service and TUSafe app. Information on them can be found at safety.temple.edu.
