As we enter a new academic year, Temple University’s Department of Public Safety wants to take a moment to make sure you know how to reach Temple University Police, where to find safety resources and when to call for help. Whether you need assistance yourself or are concerned about someone else, don’t hesitate to reach out. Familiarizing yourself with the university’s safety resources can help keep the Temple and North Philadelphia communities safer for everyone.   

• Be prepared, stay connected 
  • Save Temple Police in your contacts: 215-204-1234. Temple Police should be the first call for an immediate safety concern or emergency on campus. 
  • Download the TUSafe app. 
  • Confirm your phone number is registered for TUalerts.
• Getting around campus 
  • New this fall, access three free Uber vouchers, up to a $10 value per ride, for use during the fall semester. 
  • Request a walking escort anytime and anywhere within the campus patrol zone by calling 215-777-9255. 
  • Utilize Flight, Temple’s free, nighttime shuttle loop service within the campus patrol zone, seven days a week from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. The TransLoc app enables you to track when a shuttle is approaching the nearest stop.
• Scooter, bicycle and vehicle safety 
  • Wear a helmet, stay visible and follow traffic laws.  
  • Stay focused. Never ride distracted or impaired.  
  • Slow down in busy areas and watch for pedestrians on sidewalks and pathways.   
  • Register your scooter or bicycle with Temple University Public Safety to receive a free U-lock and help officers recover it if lost or stolen.
  • Protect your vehicle. Temple Public Safety will offer free Faraday pouches to anyone with a valid Temple ID and who uses a key fob with their vehicle later this semester. The pouches block key fob signals and help prevent electronic vehicle theft.  
  • Keep phones, laptops and other valuables with you and do not leave belongings unattended.

  • Stay updated regarding the university’s available safety resources. The Department of Public Safety is also on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. We invite the community to follow us for safety updates. 
• Call without hesitation when you or someone else needs help. Temple University has a medical amnesty policy that states that no student will be subject to university discipline for seeking medical treatment for the effects of drug or alcohol use, including both the intoxicated student and the student seeking help for an intoxicated student.
