Guidance related to air quality

Posted

To the Temple Community,

As you are likely aware, the City of Philadelphia is currently under a Code Purple Air Quality Alert for particulate matter due to wildfire smoke from Canada. Temple University and its Health and Well-being Division are monitoring this situation closely.

In accordance with the city's guidance, we strongly encourage all members of the Temple community to limit time outside.  People with heart or lung disease may experience more serious health effects.

If you notice that you are having trouble breathing or feel nauseous, seek medical attention immediately.

We continue to follow guidance from Philadelphia's Department of Public Health and its Office of Emergency Management. We will provide updates if necessary. We also encourage you to visit the city's Breathe Philly website for accurate, up-to-date hourly air quality measurements.

Thank you for doing your part to help keep yourself and others safe.

Sincerely,

Mark Denys
