Join us July 21: Help ‘Fill the Flight’ with school supplies

Posted

Dear Students and Colleagues,

At Temple University, supporting our North Philadelphia neighbors is an important part of our mission. One way we bring that commitment to life is by coming together to serve our community. On Tuesday, July 21, at 11 a.m., I invite you to join us in doing just that.

Together, our Department of Public Safety, the Klein College of Media and Communication, the College of Education and Human Development, the College of Engineering, the Ambler Campus, and the Office of Government and Community Relations will launch a Fill the Flight School Supplies Drive. We encourage colleagues, friends and community members to gather at the Owl statue at Liacouras and Polett Walks on July 21 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. to help kick off this important initiative and support local students.

Our goal is to fill one of our Flight shuttles with new school supplies to provide full backpacks for local students as they prepare to return to the classroom. We are grateful to the Temple University Police Association, which has already donated 100 backpacks to the initiative, but we need your help to collect additional supplies.

Everyone who brings at least one school supply item will receive free water ice and pretzels. If you cannot join us in person, you can still support the drive by ordering from our Amazon wish list.

Requested donations include

  • Backpacks
  • Pencils and pens
  • Notebooks
  • Folders
  • Loose-leaf paper
  • Highlighters
  • Erasers
  • Crayons
  • Markers
  • Glue sticks
  • Boxes of tissues
  • Small bottles of hand sanitizer
