Dear Students and Colleagues,
It is with great sadness that we write to let you know of the tragic loss of a member of our Temple University family. Bryce Wolfe, a 20-year-old actuarial science major within the Fox School of Business, was the victim of a hit-and-run crash last week on Kelly Drive.
Bryce was a native of Conyngham, Pennsylvania, and had just recently completed his sophomore year. He had quickly established a reputation as both an excellent student and engaged member of the Temple community. A standout in the classroom, Bryce maintained a high GPA while being enrolled in both the Temple and Fox Honors programs. His recognition as a recipient of both the Provost’s Academic Scholarship and the Fox School of Business Endowed Scholarship further illustrates his status as an emerging scholar.
Bryce was also deeply involved outside of class as he was a member of the student professional organization Gamma Iota Sigma and had recently started an internship with United States Liability Insurance Group. There is no doubt that he had a very bright future ahead of him, and that’s what makes delivering this news especially difficult.
Unfortunately, the driver involved in this tragic incident has not yet been identified. The vehicle is believed to have been a white SUV, and it may have damage to the left, or driver’s, side. Both Bryce’s family as well as the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD) are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact PPD Investigations at 215-686-TIPS (8477). Thanks to an anonymous donor, there is a $10,000 reward available for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
A terrible event like this reminds us how fragile life can be. It will no doubt affect many of us and in a variety of ways. We extend our thoughts and deepest sympathies to those who were closest to Bryce, especially his family and friends.
We also encourage students who were close to Bryce to seek support through Tuttleman Counseling Services. For faculty and staff members, our Employee Assistance Program offers support and resources 24/7 online or by calling 1-888-267-8126.
Sincerely,
John Fry
