Dear Colleagues,  

I write to share an update on the search for our next vice president for public safety.  

To help fill this critically important role, I have appointed a Search Advisory Committee that will be chaired by Cameron Etezady, vice president and university counsel. The other members of the search committee are  

• Jodi Bailey Accavallo, vice president for student affairs; 
• David Brown, executive director of community impact and civic engagement; 
• Nyron Crawford, associate professor of political science; 
• Weegie Esten, vice president and deputy provost; 
• Kiyah Hamilton, CPH ’26, and current bachelor of science in nursing student; 
• Brian Keech, vice president for government and community relations; 
• Shane McDevitt, vice president of facilities for Temple Health;  
• Angela Polec, vice president for strategic marketing and communications; and 
• Jonathan Reiter, vice president for business affairs and administration. 

Charles Ramsey, former Philadelphia Police commissioner and founding partner of 21CP Solutions, will serve as an advisor to the committee. Further details and a complete position profile will soon be available on the Campus Operations website. 

I have asked Denise Wilhelm, current deputy chief of operations in the Department of Public Safety, to serve as interim vice president for the unit. As a member of the Department of Public Safety for more than 30 years, Denise is the ideal person to lead during this time of transition; she also previously led the division in an interim capacity in 2022.
