Dear Students and Colleagues,

Each year, Memorial Day provides an opportunity to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. It is a day of great significance, especially this year as we will soon celebrate the 250th anniversary of our country’s independence here in Philadelphia.

For some members of our community, Memorial Day is an especially poignant occasion. To all who have lost a family member or friend in service to our country, please know that you have my deepest condolences.

Here at Temple, we believe that education can empower generations, creating engaged citizens prepared to leave their mark on the world. On behalf of the entire university, I want to thank our many active military members and veterans. More than 450 current students, faculty and staff members are veterans who have served this country, and we are thankful to count these heroes among our university community.

I wish you moments of peace and reflection this Memorial Day weekend.
