Faculty athletics representative search

Posted

Dear Colleagues,

As you may be aware, School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management Associate Professor Elizabeth Taylor will be leaving Temple this summer for a position at another university. Liz has not only been a productive member of the faculty but also served as Temple’s faculty athletics representative (FAR) since 2024, supporting our student-athletes and helping to ensure the academic integrity of the athletics program.

During her time in this role, Liz committed to the full engagement of our student-athletes across their undergraduate and graduate educational experiences. She also worked to engage more faculty with our student-athletes, particularly through the Resnick Center, forming a faculty mentoring committee. I wish Liz all the best in her next chapter, and will miss working with her as the FAR.

To provide continuity, we will conduct a prompt internal search to identify our next FAR. I welcome your applications and nominations for this important position, which is a 12-month, 25% administrative appointment reporting directly to the president. The successful candidate will be a full-time member of the Temple faculty, preferably tenured, with a record of leadership; engagement; and a willingness to learn about institutional, American Conference, NCAA and other athletic conference affiliate rules.

Please submit all nominations and applications via email to no later than May 27, 2026. Please include, as appropriate, a letter of interest, all relevant experience and qualifications, and a current CV. All nominations and applications will be treated confidentially.

I have appointed a search advisory committee chaired by Chancellor Richard Englert. A position description can be found here.

Thank you for your support of the search process.

Sincerely,

John Fry
President
