Update on this morning’s reporting

Posted

To the Temple Community,

Early this morning, inaccurate media reports alleged that a stabbing took place on campus. This is false; there was no stabbing on campus overnight. A student who appeared intoxicated was located on campus around 2 a.m., with no physical injuries. Temple University Police responded and the student was transported to receive medical treatment.

Inaccurate reports like this can cause concern for students, families, faculty and staff. To address this, we quickly worked to ensure that media outlets corrected their reports and did not repeat misinformation.

The safety of our community remains our top priority. As always, we encourage you to rely on TUalerts and official Temple University Public Safety communications for accurate, timely updates.

If you ever need assistance or wish to report an incident, Temple University Police are available 24/7 at 215-204-1234.

Safety resources can also be found at safety.temple.edu.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Griffin
Vice President for Public Safety and Chief of Police
