Welcoming Temple’s new Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education

Posted

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that, after a national search, Dr. Heather Servaty-Seib has been appointed vice provost for undergraduate education at Temple University. She will assume her role on July 20.

An established leader in student success, Heather currently serves as senior associate vice provost for teaching and learning at Purdue University. She is a professor of counseling psychology who joined the Purdue faculty in 2000, and has served in various roles, including associate dean of student life of the John Martinson Honors College, associate department head in Educational Studies, and training director in the Counseling and Psychology Doctoral Program.

Heather has been a champion of integrated, collaborative and student-centered approaches that prioritize retention and persistence through university-wide initiatives. She is highly engaged in national networks, including the University Innovation Alliance, Undergraduate Education at Research Universities, and the Big Ten Undergraduate Education Leadership group. She has been honored with service-learning awards from the university and the state of Indiana, and in 2025, she received the Leadership in Action Award from Purdue.

My thanks go to the search committee for the time and dedication that led to the appointment of such a forward-thinking leader, and to Emily Moerer, who so ably led the undergraduate education team as interim vice provost during this past year.

I am confident that Heather will be a force for progress at our university. Please join me in welcoming her to Temple.

Sincerely,

David Boardman
Interim Provost
