To the Temple Community,

Just before 3:20 a.m. on Monday, March 30, police officers from Temple University and Philadelphia Police departments responded to an off-campus shooting on the 2000 block of North 10th Street. Police found two men shot inside a hookah lounge located on the ground floor of a privately owned apartment building. Several bullet casings were recovered inside the establishment, one of which damaged a window in the lobby of the housing complex. The two shooting victims, who have no affiliation to the university, were quickly transported to Temple University Hospital by Temple Police, where one is listed in critical condition and the other is in stable condition.

At this time, the investigation is being led by the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD).

Anyone with information is urged to contact the PPD tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or Central Detectives at 215-686-3093. You also can contact Temple’s Investigations Unit at 215-204-6200 or Temple Police at 215-204-1234.

We encourage all members of our community to become familiar with the university’s available safety resources, such as the Walking Escort Program, the Flight shuttle service and additional safety resources within the TUSafe app.

While this incident did not involve Temple students, incidents like this are concerning. Students who are impacted are encouraged to seek support through Tuttleman Counseling Services.
